Congratulations to Lucy-Belle Williamson on winning the under 10 national sabre championships last weekend.
For the second year in succession Lucy-Belle Williamson has won the under 10 British Youth Championships. Easily claiming her second title Lucy-Belle won the final 10-1.
24 hours earlier Lucy-Belle also won the DUrham under 11 LPJS Foil event and her sister Lexie took the under 9 gold.
Double Gold for Williamson Sisters…
Lucy-Belle claimed her second under 11 foil gold in the 2014 LPJS series comfortably winning the event. Whilst in the under 9 event Lexie also claimed gold, her first ever LPJS gold medal.
In other events this weekend Billy Shepherd came 14th in his first Under 15 Elite Epee.
Gillian Stone comes 3rd at the Merseyside Open and claims the highest place veterans prize as well.
Gillian who has not been fencing for 2 months seeded 1st after two rounds of poules and eventually claimed the bronze medal after two 15-14 DE fights.
Epee fencers from Skipton Fencing club won the Scorpian cup this weekend. Alan Browne, Seirk Horn and Jim Lockyer entered as the “Old Skiptonians” seeded first in the competition with a +75 indicator, which meant the team had a bye into the last 8 of the event. The team then proceeded to make its way to the final first defeating the Wrexham Veterans, to secure a place in the semi-finals. Then beating “Once. Twice. Two Sirs and a Lady”. It was a close match that was played out to its tactical limit with the Old Skiptonians initially on the back foot they clawed there way back into the game and were eventually had a five point lead going into the last match. Another cagey fight saw the Old Skiptonian victorious and in the finals.
The final match was a tough nail biting finale to a hard day of fencing, with the Old Skiptonians facing Clitheros. The final score was 45-44 with the Old Skiptonians victorious.
